Where did Desktop Training Professionals Come From?

Hi. I'm Debi Rapson and I'm the President and owner of this desktop application training and consulting company. I have been privileged to provide customized, on-site training, that is personalized to meet my customer’s functionality requirements, for the last 10 years. In addition, I have been able to work closely with system engineers, to create and maintain Systems personnel and training manuals for the constantly evolving desktop application world.
I came to this market first as a typesetter for a small community newspaper in Baltimore, MD. I was lucky enough to work with a group of guys who taught me, from the ground up, the ins and out of paste-up, [including proper use and care of an exacto knife!], Chromalin proofs, hot lead vs. cold type, proof-reading, widows and orphans, hanging indents, CMYK vs. RGB, ruby lith, dodge and burn, camera ready and so many other terms that are slowly giving way to the digital age.
It has been this background, however, that has given me an edge in teaching adults how to apply their vast knowledge and skill sets to the computer programs they are now beginning to use to create printed matter and materials that can be transferred to the web. Of course, I believe I provide superior service, but don't take my word for it. Read what our customers have to say about their training experience.
Before starting my own business in 1992, I became known as a “MacIntosh expert” for proprietary color systems companies. I did demos, installation and training on design-through-production (proprietary) workstations, interfaced to Scitex, Hell, DDES, Optronics and Macintosh products to produce plotter ready four-color films. I continually saw the need for better documentation for training materials as well as comprehensive, quality on-site reporting procedures.
So, in 1992, at the height of recession, I decided it was time to give back some of what I had learned and Desktop Training Professionals was born. Over the years, we have had any number of qualified people who have helped with the training, but travel takes its toll on us all and now it's just me.

But, don’t take OUR word for it, because our customers say it best...
Good communicator. Tries hard to understand the problems areas for you. First Rate! I expect this to be a continuing practical learning experience.
